Film Screening: Girl Rising
Impact Hub Dubai (6:00-9:00pm)

 

Girl Rising is a global campaign for girls’ education.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, on March 7th at 6pm, Dubai will be participating in a global marathon screening of the film Girl Rising, in association with Intel.

This exciting global initiative includes young women entrepreneurs from 24 different cities across the globe, whom are associated or have started an organization working with women who will host and screen film. The objective is to spread awareness on issues of women’s empowerment and the importance of educating girls. The screening will not be limited to women only and encourages young entrepreneurs to attend and participate in the live discussions following the film on how you can play your part to spread awareness and make an impact on the lives of girls across the world.

The screenings will take place over 12 different hours, making it a marathon of screenings and discussions happening in different parts of the world. There will be discussions pre and post screening, which will be live streamed through Google Plus Hangouts on Air.

HULT PRIZE AWARDS (Mar. 8th)

Hult Prize 2014: Healthcare
Non-communicable Disease in the Urban Slum

The Hult Prize is a start-up accelerator for budding young social entrepreneurs emerging from the world’s universities. Named as one of the top five ideas changing the world by President Bill Clinton and TIME Magazine, the annual competition for the Hult Prize aims to identify and launch the most compelling social business ideas—start-up enterprises that tackle grave issues faced by billions of people. Winners receive USD 1 million in seed capital, as well as mentorship and advice from the international business community.

 

Hult Prize 2014′s Regional Competition comes to a close in Dubai with final pitches and an award ceremony at Jumeirah Beach Hotel. SEW Weeklong ticket holders get access to the Awards night (excluding the dinner). Spaces are limited!

Join us for the official closing night of Social Enterprise Week which includes an episode of El Mashrou3 (Egypt’s first reality TV competition about entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs. After an extensive casting process, 14 young Egyptian entrepreneurs were selected for an opportunity to win prizes, including real support to launch their projects and a grand cash prize for the main winner.) and of course, plenty of inspiring company.
We know that by this point you will probably be quite excited about social entrepreneurship; your mind brimming with fresh ideas and your cell phone full of contacts, but we are not done yet. We want to conclude SocEnt week on a high note; sending you back out into the world, inspired to start building your own social enterprise and helping the people around you.
We will focus on all the highlights over the past week and wrap things up in true SocEnt Week style.
